If you LOSE a pet:
- Get the word out to EVERYONE
- Submit a report or review the ones already posted at PetHarbor.com. Enter your zip code, then check the shelters you want to search. Follow the directions to search for your pet.
- Download the Shadow App on your phone or got to https://shadowapp.com/. Post that you have lost your pet, cat or dog. Shadow is a free community-led app that reunites lost dogs in greater Dallas-Fort Worth.
- Post on Facebook on the several lost and found pages.
- Go to Nextdoor.com or download the app and post on Nextdoor.
- Post Flyers.
- Call or leave flyers at all Vets in the area.
- E-mail all neighbor’s and neighborhood association.
- Check the Shelters in person EVERYDAY! Dallas Animal Services gets more than 100 animals in each day, so please check PetHarbor daily to look for your pet. If you see a pet that you believe could be yours go to the shelter as soon as possible to see them in person — hours are 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
If you FIND a pet:
- Take the pet to the nearest vet to be scanned for a microchip!
- Get the word out to EVERYONE
- If you have an animal and can keep it in your home while you look for the owner, please make a Found Pet Report, or go to Petharbor.com.

Things to Do to keep your pet SAFE
- Make sure your pet wears a tag all the time – the easiest way to make sure your pet gets returned to you.
- Make sure your pet is Microchipped. It is mandatory in the city of Dallas.
- Make a Lost Pet Emergency Kit – current photos of your pet, detailed description of your pet, etc
