Forest Hills History – Architecture

The Forest Hills neighborhood is a wooded bluff on the south side of White Rock Lake where shaded, estate-sized lots are the norm. Forest Hills has one of the most diverse collections of architectural styles in any single area of Dallas and reflects our rich history. The sepia icon to the right is 8171 San Benito Way and was built in 1925.

Forest Hills has homes representing the Tudor Revival, Cotswold Cottage (subset of Tudor Revival,) Colonial Revival, Spanish Revival, Spanish Mission Revival, Spanish Eclectic, Contemporary, Greek Revival, European, Traditional, Mid-Century Modern, Ranch,  Raised Ranch, Victorian and Contemporary  architectural designs. Forest Hills is proud to have a Preservation Dallas 2006 Preservation Dallas Preservation Achievement Award Winner.

Our newer homes incorporate Neo-eclectic, Neo-Mediterranean, Neo-Classical, Postmodern and Contemporary styles.

Based on Dallas Central Appraisal Records, the oldest home was built in 1920 and new homes are currently under construction.

The current oldest home was built in 1923 and is located at 8247 San Fernando Way. The second oldest home was built in 1924 and is located at 8163 Santa Clara Drive.
